The goal of our community
development projects is to develop skills and
self-confidence among deprived men and women
of India who are frequently bereft of their
role and rights in the community. Working with
anti-drug centers and centers for outreach-training,
informal education, skill-development, and women's
development, volunteers can enrich the community
and provide its people with new skills and opportunities.
This project provides rewarding
and challenging opportunities to all the volunteers
who wish to help India’s needy people.
At first, you will work with both the Indian
staff and local volunteers who will provide
you the conceptual framework regarding how to
cooperate the rural Indian people. Later, you
and our volunteer staff will explore the project
sites where many rural men and women are involved
in several activities. You will also participate
in community development activities, such as
integrated farming, environmental education,
and health education.
Technical work includes designing
programs, building training programs, assisting
in community research, and arranging teaching
and training manuals for others. As a volunteer
in CD project in India, you will be asked to
participate in various skill development activities,
training, and teaching programs. The placement
is available in various areas.
Your Activities as
a Volunteer:
As a volunteer, you will
assist a grassroots-level NGO that educates
children by providing formal and informal education,
vocational training, nutrition care and also
helps with women's education and skills training.
You will volunteer in the field of rural development,
agriculture, education, and health care in tribal
areas. You will also help for women's empowerment
in society and provide basic daily care for
the orphans/disabled children. You are also
encouraged to actively participate in programs
such as health education, games, drawing, and
arts and crafts. You can also get involved in
sports and make teaching materials to aid the
children's learning. You may be working in small
groups or on a one-to-one basis. You will be
expected to contribute in any way possible.
So, you are advised to come with prepared mentality,
ideas, activities and game for the children.

Most of the placements seek committed individuals
to help strengthen their projects and programs,
so a willingness to learn and work is required.
Having interest to work for the benefit of poor,

development, knowledge and competence is very

Arrangement of room/food/supervision
RCDP-India makes appropriate provision for food, room and
supervision for its volunteers from the very beginning of their arrival to the
country. During the first week of language and cultural immersion program, volunteers
stay in RCDP’s hostel in Gurgaon (Delhi) where cooks prepare a variety
of Indian food (Nan, curry, Dal, chapatti, rice and pickle). During their volunteering
programs in Delhi and Banglore, volunteers’ accommodation and food management
is provided by a host family. However, volunteers joining RCDP-India’s
orphanage program stay with the children in a hostel. RCDP makes provision of
a separate room along with the shower facility in both the host family and hostel
accommodation. RCDP’s staff visit visits volunteers in their respective
placement in every two week to acknowledge the feedback, volunteers’ progress
and the program in general.
