Environmental Conservation or Eco-Work

Nepal’s natural environment has been deteriorating day by day under the growing demand of trees. In the past few years, thousand of hectors of land have been disappeared due to the soil erosion. To promote conservation work in Nepal, RCDP conducts a small village-based nursery in various areas of Chitwan. Work in this conservation project is physically demanding.

Your Activities as a Volunteer:

Work in the nursery includes seed collection, sowing, mulching, and watering, trimming, weeding, and related work. The nursery projects produce seedlings that are later distributed to local schools, communities, and villagers for planting in community fields in free of cost. Nursery managers for RCDP guide all volunteers during the project period. Volunteers’ effort and contribution may create a positive impact for the promotion and protection of environmental conservation.

While Volunteering overseas in conservation sector in Nepal, you may find yourself on a working holiday in a spectacular location with local people who carry out wildlife conservation, environmental conservation or historical preservation.

Project Skills Required:

Work in this conservation project may need physical efforts and strengths. You don't need to be experienced in conservation abroad, just bring self-reliance, enthusiasm, motivation to conservation works, patience and an open mind – as conservation also means doing the vital maintenance work to keep your project running.

Project Location:

Chitwan: RCDP-Nepal has developed its own multipurpose nursery and environmental conservation project at Rampur in Chitwan district. The project location is 4 hours drive aw01ay from Kathmandu (170 Km).

Located in plain belt of the country, Chitwan is one of the most known tourism hubs in Nepal. One can enjoy the bliss of nature by traveling to another World Heritage Listed magnificent place known as Chitwan National Park. Elephant riding for Jungle Safari to witness one-horned Rhino and Bengal Tiger, Canoeing, Viewing sunrise and sunset, Bird watching, Tharu village walk and Cultural immersion programs are the attractions of the place. In addition, Chitwan is popularly known as the store house of corn as it is one of the most fertile lands of the country.

Arrangement of room/food/supervision

RCDP-Nepal makes appropriate provision for food, room and supervision for its volunteers from the very beginning of their arrival to the country. During the first week of language training program, RCDP-Nepal manages you a clean and pleasant hostel having food facility where cooks prepare a variety of Nepali food (Dal, Bhat, Curry, Bread, Pickle, Tea etc). For your convenience, they will make continental and international food as well. During volunteers’ respective volunteering programs, their accommodation will be provided by a host family. However, volunteers joining in orphanage program will stay with the children in a hostel. RCDP-Nepal arranges a separate room along with a communal bath for volunteers in both the host families and hostel accommodations. Besides, Nepali people are extremely hospitable, warm and welcoming and volunteers are well treated wherever they go. Our staffs visit the volunteers at their placement in every two weeks. We assess the situation of the volunteers, working progress, and also receive feedback during this visit.
