| RCDP’s internship program in Nepal provides you the
unique opportunity to have an international internship
or practical work experience in the areas of health, education,
social services and other subjects of your interest. If
you are a student seeking academic credit or simply want
to add experience and knowledge in your specified field
through international internship, we provide you a meaningful
and incredible option and opportunity. You will work side
by side with local people and experience another culture
like never before. You will have boundless learning opportunities
that offer a deeper perspective of the culture and the
global and the local issues. As a RCDP’s Internship
participant, you will be placed in an internship related
to your profession while living with a warm and welcoming
host family. It's a wonderful opportunity to improve your
foreign language fluency and gain real world experience
and knowledge.
Your placement is assigned according to your chosen area
of focus, taking into account your skills and interests,
the needs of the community, the duration of your program,
your specific learning objectives and the services and
support you can provide for your partner program. It is
designed to provide a meaningful opportunity for you to
work at the community level as well as a basis for building
knowledge about your area of interest and achieving your
learning objectives.
Internship programs are typically available for 2-12
weeks throughout the year. You may choose the dates of
your program. Dates and duration are subject to availability,
but RCDP will work with you to accommodate your needs.
In order to get the most out of your internship position
in Nepal, RCDP suggests you to take at least two weeks
of language and culture programs. The program will provide
you with a necessary, comprehensive start in exploring
the every day issues of Nepal. As an intern, you stay with
host families who live near the project in which you are
involved. Most of the time, the director of the project
will work to help you successfully complete your field
report. In addition to living with a host family
during the internship program, you will be supported by
our partner organizations in the country. Participants
will be given a Certificate of Completion at the end of
the program, and most employers will be happy to write
a letter of recommendation upon request. Previous experience
in your area of study is highly recommended and previous
foreign travel is desirable, but not required.
