Work in Orphanage
Poverty and ongoing civil
conflicts have seriously affected the poorest
children of Nepal. Every year, thousands of
children arrive in Katmandu searching for jobs
and a future. Unfortunately, reality of the
city is quite adverse. Many of these children
work over 14-hour a day in industry, hotels,
and restaurants and many of them have turned
into street laborer.
Thousands of children are
forced to desert their home, family and education
due to the decade long Maoists insurgency. Likewise,
Hundreds of children are helpless and hapless
as they lost their parents during the Maoists
war. Besides, poverty, lack of education, and
parents’ ignorance have exacerbated their
situation. The Government of Nepal has failed
and is failing to protect the children’s
fundamental rights and privileges. In such
context, orphanages have been caring and educating
such underprovided children. Recently, RCDP-Nepal
has established children welfare centers, and
schools in Chitwan and Katmandu. Besides, RCDP
has also been working in collaboration with
more than 15 local organizations to rescue
these children from a life of poverty and degradation.
Volunteering in Nepal Orphanage
Project is an enriching and life changing experience
for our volunteers as well as the children.
Many of our former volunteers have reported
that this project, in particular, has been
memorable and fulfilling, and has changed the
way they view the world and life. If you have
a strong enthusiasm and willingness to create
a positive impact in the lives of these innocent
children, your helping hands are always welcomed
solely for the advantage of these needy orphans.
Your activities as
a Volunteer:
As a volunteer in orphanage
project in Nepal, you will primarily assist
to boost the knowledge, skill and competence
of disadvantaged and poor children of the country.
By serving the orphans in orphanages, you will
be offering them a different perspective on
life that they can carry into adulthood.
Working in an orphanage
is a real rewarding job though your work can
be difficult at times. The orphanage centers
run by our partners accommodate 20-30 boys and
girls between the ages of 3 to 15. Although
this is not an English teaching placement, you
will have the opportunity to teach English during
your stay in the orphanage and conduct creative
programs including games, music, art, drawing,
painting, health, nutrition, and sanitation.
If you are skilled in sewing, painting, tailoring,
crafting, typing, and computing, you can teach
these skills to the children as well. Volunteers’
love, care, teaching of English language and
sharing the experiences of their own would be
a great assistance to gain confidence to them
thereby making their future more secure, livable
and prosperous.
Project skills required:
No specific skills and qualifications
are required. However, you must be at least
18 years of old. (Volunteers of 17 years of
age can also work if they have authentic approval
letter like of parents). Volunteers joining
orphanage projects should have love and passion
for serving poor kids. Volunteers should also
be flexible, self-motivated with open mind to
learn and serve to the people of new culture
and religion.
Project Location:
Kathmandu: Our
orphanages are located nearby area (5-15 km)

Kathmandu is also known as the city of temples
and historically significant monuments. This
is why the small city harbors more than half
a dozen of ancient historical places and heritages
which are listed in World Heritage Site. Though
small in size, the valley has topographical
variation and cultural diversity. Besides, the
apt temperature and climate of the city which
is neither too cold nor sizzling warmly welcomes
you.
Chitwan:
RCDP-Nepal has constructed and conducted its
own orphanage in Rampur of Chitwan district.
The project location is 4 hours drive away from
Kathmandu (170 Km). We are caring for 25 disadvantaged
and poor children in the orphanage.
Located in plain belt of
the country, Chitwan is one of the most known
tourism hubs in Nepal. One can enjoy the bliss
