Community Development
The goal of community development project is to develop skills and self-confidence among deprived men and women of India who are frequently bereft of their roles and rights in the community. Working with anti-drug centers and centers for outreach-training, informal education, skill-development, and women's development, volunteers can enrich the community and provide its people with new skills and opportunities.
This project provides rewarding and challenging opportunities to all the volunteers who wish to help India’s needy people. At first, you will work with both the Indian staff and local volunteers who will provide you the conceptual framework regarding how to cooperate with the rural Indian people. Later, you and our volunteer staff will explore the project sites where many rural men and women are involved in several activities. You will also participate in community development activities, such as integrated farming, environmental education, and health education.
Technical work for volunteers includes designing programs, building training programs, assisting in community research, and arranging teaching and training manuals for others. As a volunteer in Community Development project in India, you will be asked to participate in various skills development activities, training, and teaching programs. The placement is available in various areas.
Your Activities as a Volunteer:
As a volunteer in community development project, you will assist in grass root level NGO’s that educates children by providing formal and informal education, vocational training, nutrition care and also helps women with education and skills training. You will volunteer in rural development, agriculture, education, and health care in tribal areas. You also have the choices of working in women's empowerment and work for orphans/disabled children.
Volunteers are encouraged to actively incorporate programs such as health education, games, drawing, sports and arts and craft. You can work in small groups or on one-to-one basis. You will be expected to contribute in any way possible. So you are advised to mentality prepare yourself and make necessary preparation for the project.
Project Skills Required:
Most of the placements seek committed individuals to help strengthen the projects and programs, so a willingness to learn and work is required. Having interest to work for the benefit of poor, marginalized, disadvantaged and vulnerable group and to the development of their skill development, knowledge and competence is very essential.
Project Location:
Delhi: Delhi one of the largest cities of India. It is also the capital of India. The city offers a fascinating amalgamation of old and the new north India with ancient temples and monuments mingling with posh shopping malls and international food chain. It’s also a city where you can find glittering buildings next to a shanty town.
Jaipur:Jaipur is the capital of Rajesthan and is known as the “pink city”. The city is truly an exotic and colorful place where people speak Rajesthani (Madwari) and Hindi. The city consist magnificent and majestic forts and palaces. The tour inside them will reveal the history of the Rajputs who ruled the city.
Arrangement of room/food/supervision
RCDP-India makes appropriate provision for food, room and supervision for its volunteers from the very beginning of their arrival to the country. During the first week of language and cultural immersion program, volunteers stay in RCDP's hostel in Gurgaon (Delhi) where cooks prepare a variety of Indian food (Nan, curry, Dal, chapatti, rice and pickle). During their volunteering programs in Delhi and Jaipur, volunteers stay in home base or project hostel or host family. Wherever, you stay RCDP India program offers you clean, simple, and safe accomodation and local foods 3 times a day. RCDP's staffs visit volunteers in their respective placement in every two- four week to acknowledge the feedback, volunteers' progress and the program in general.
