Project: School Teaching

I had a wonderful Time in Nepal. The initial prospect of living in a country very different from your own is a very scary one. There is the obvious language barrier as well as numerous cultural differences, which made the first few weeks somewhat difficult.

RCDP have helped in many ways to ease the problems or difficulties that volunteers face. The initial two-week program particularly helps one to feel more knowledgeable about Nepal, to make new friends with volunteers and Nepali people and is an excellent introduction to the project. I do feel however that perhaps a little more contact would be necessary throughout the project to give volunteers a chance to raise any issues or ask any questions that they might have. Also, full explanations about VISAS and other paper work for volunteers would ease unnecessary anxiety.

All in all, I had wonderful time; I have learnt a lot and hope that students and teachers at my school have learnt some worthwhile things from me too.
