Project: Orphanage care and Teaching
I was picked up at the airport on time. Hade a wonderful stay in Kalanki. Raju was an excellent Nepali teacher and great tour guide of the Kathmandu temples. Lamatar was interesting but Madan talked a bit too much, otherwise, loved all the hiking and the dancing program. Rafting was of course excellent and I loved Sauraha. However, the elephant’s-breeding site was a bit disconcerting. It doesn't look as though the elephants are treated very well. I had an easy trip to Rampur, Thanks to Krishna and Lila. In Rampur I stayed with Ramesh and his family and the accommodations were great. His home is very comfortable.
I found the orphanage to be run very well and the kids to be well taken care of. I had an excellent time working experience with the children on their homework and playing with them after school. They all seem to have very happy lives! Anyhow, I chose the orphanage project because I have never been around children before and it was a great personal challenge to work with 28 kids. Thank you so much for everything. The Asna orphanage was an excellent experience.
