Karnali River originates from the Tibetan plateau near lake Manasarovar. The river carves its way through the Himalayas of Nepal. It is the largest and longest river of Nepal, which flows for 507 meters or 315 miles. It flows south and makes its way in the western districts of Nepal before dramatically falling with a huge volume of whitewater. It also touches the wildlife of the remote jungle.

Karnali River is the ultimate river for a rafting expedition as it boasts the combination of rough rapids and calm water. Karnali River 9 Days Rafting Itinerary

The first day of the adventurous and thrilling rafting trip will begin form Sauli and will take you through a few villages, ending at Chisapani. Here is the detailed itinerary:

Day 1: Kathmandu to Nepalgunj to Sauli

The capital city of Nepal, Kathmandu is connected to Nepalgunj via airways and is approximately an hour-long flight from the capital. If you seek a cheaper alternative, then you need to travel 12-14 hours via car or public buses to reach Nepalgunj.

You will drive approximately five more hours to reach Sauli which is the starting point of Karnali River rafting. During the drive you will be treated to incredibly picturesque views and quaint villages. You will get to explore the village before the night approaches.

Day 2: Rafting from Sauli

On the second day, you will receive a brief safety instruction lesson before commencing the real rafting trip. The trail of rafting will take you through the wilderness of Karnali and will challenge you with rapids and rough water. The technical expertise needed to overcome the challenges will leave you full of adrenaline. The day will end on a riverside camp.

Day 3: Rafting to God-house

Day three trip will be highly challenging!. You will pass through untouched jungles and have a thrilling ride through incredible gorges and technical rapids. The day will end at the God-House area, where you will set up camp.

Day 4: Rafting to Seti Dovan

While rafting, you will get to witness several rough areas and challenging rapids. The excitement will escalate as you encounter the height of the white water from where you will dip into the river from the rapids. Yet another a day full of adventure will end by camping in the Seti Dovan area.

Day 5: Rafting to Jamuna Village

Karnali River rafting will be filled with thrilling encounters and captivating, wild beauty. The river will challenge you, forcing you to overcome adversity and feel the exhilarating sense of achievement.

The fun-filled journey will take you through the lush green forests with breathtaking views of the jungle and wildlife. You will spend the night by camping near the Jamuna village.

Day 6 – 9: Rafting to Chisapani

The last four days of rafting in Karnali River will be a relatively relaxed journey until you reach the junction of Seti River. As the river widens you will witness an increase in the number of kayakers. You will be given the option to take a day off and explore the area with your guide.

The river will significantly die out. Upon reaching the river exit point in Chisapani the trip of 9 days Karnali River rafting will come to an end. If you wish to explore more you can visit Bardia National Park, which is the largest and most undisturbed national park. Or, you can return back to Kathmandu by bus.
